The Secret of Name-Form: The Cosmic Science Between Mind and Matter and the Physical Power of Thoughts

We may think that we live in a world based on matter. But is the universe really based on matter? Or is it mind? Even modern science is still searching for an answer to this question, which is called The Hard Problem of Consciousness. When we talk about the relationship between mind and matter, we cannot simply limit it to "mind is brain". According to the "name-form" philosophy of Buddhism, mind and matter are two forms of energy that depend on each other and cannot exist without each other. Mind is simply the nature of knowing goals, and matter or form is the physical support that that mind needs to function. The relationship between these two is like a blind person and a person who has difficulty walking together on a journey. Matter (form) has no life, but it has a certain shape. Mind (name) has no shape, but it has life and the power to direct. Let us first look at this contradictory relationship between mind and brain. The brain is just a piece of hardware made up of the four great elements (earth, air, matter, and spirit). The neurons, cells, and chemicals inside it cannot think on their own. But when the software called the mind operates through the medium of the brain, we can experience this world. The Double Slit Experiment in modern quantum physics has proven that a particle behaves as matter only when an observer looks at it. That is, the mind has the ability to determine the behavior of matter. This is what is called "chittaja rupa" in Paramartha Dharma. That is, we can create and manipulate particles in this physical world with our thoughts. A thought is a very powerful energy wave. Every time a thought arises, the structure of our body changes according to the nature of that thought. For example, if you get very angry, the "nama" dharma of anger instantly provokes the elements of tejo (heat) and vayo (movement/pressure) in your body. As a result, your face turns red, your heart beats faster, and your body trembles. You can see from this, right? That invisible thought can completely change visible matter. This is also what causes diseases in the long run. If you are constantly under stress, the distorted elemental formation caused by those thoughts destroys your cells and causes physical diseases. In other words, the mind is like our biological engineer. If we look deeper, the connection between mind and matter occurs through the energy called "karma". The thoughts (intentions) that arise in our mind shape matter in a certain order. The reason why the bodies of animals are so diverse, and even within the same human race, the nature of their forms has changed, is because of the diversity of the thought energy (karma) in their minds. This is like a 3D printer. The mind is the design, it is through it that this physical image is printed and put out. That is why even the appearance of a person who has developed the mind is very peaceful and attractive. Due to the purity of their minds, very strong and healthy particles of energy are created inside the body. So, this connection affects not only our body but also the entire environment. Even scientists today accept the concept of mind-over-matter. Masaru Emoto, who did research on water, pointed out that if we look at water and express good thoughts (love, gratitude), the particles of that water create very beautiful geometric shapes. But if we express bad thoughts, those particles take on ugly and irregular shapes. What do we see from this? Matter is something that responds to the thoughts of the mind, right? So if our body is 70% water, can our thoughts make or break our entire body? This is the very close relationship between mind and matter. Concepts like quantum entanglement show that everything in the universe is interconnected. Mind is the main factor that operates this universal network. When we wish something with our mind or make a strong determination, we are changing the behavior of the objects in the external world through that thought energy. That is why it is said that thoughts become things. But this can only be done if the mind is at a very integrated level. A scattered mind cannot have much influence on matter. But a concentrated mind can change even the basic properties of matter. So, when we think deeply about this name-form relationship, we understand that mind is also a kind of "flow" and not a fixed thing. Just as matter changes, mind also dies and is born second by second. Together, these two create the illusion of "I". Mind cannot exist without matter, and matter has no meaning without mind. For someone who understands this interconnection, the world is not just a bunch of "things", it is a great "dance of energy". The rhythm that controls that dance is inside your mind. So, think about how your mind creates your world today. The world you see today is not really outside, it is just something that is projected inside your mind. If you make your mind beautiful, the material world you see will also naturally become beautiful. Because mind and matter are really just two faces of the same truth! ✨
