Does life actually get better as we grow older — or do we simply learn to see it differently?
DiscussionsWhen I was young, I believed happiness came from achievement — degrees, success, recognition, building something impressive.
Now, at seventy, sitting by the water waiting for a fish that may never come, I wonder if happiness was never about reaching somewhere at all.
Fishing teaches patience in a way modern life rarely allows. You cannot rush the lake. You cannot argue with time. You simply exist — observing, breathing, waiting.
And strangely… that feels enough.
So I want to ask you all:
👉 Do you think aging improves life, or does it only change our expectations? 👉 What have you learned later in life that your younger self would never understand? 👉 Are we chasing too much instead of experiencing enough?
I would genuinely like to hear perspectives from every age — especially younger minds. Sometimes wisdom travels both directions.
